The Open Close 22.2 - One close from closed.

Wellllllcommmeee back! If you didn't like hinging, laying on the ground and jumping in a circle for 22.1, it was bad news deluxe, because we're doing all of that again this week!

With the 22.2 announcement, Physios around the world started licking their lips in anticipation. CrossFit HQ last week saved people from themselves by not letting them jump off a box. This week they turned the gun around with a prescription of 100 Deadlifts, thanks!

Friday Night was a fun affair once again with Fergylicious definitely stealing the show by completing the workout. With a few missing with COVID, sadly the post-workout congratulatory french kiss had to be abandoned.

Looking ahead to next week, CrossFit has released this clue... so unless you've been living under a rock you'll know what's coming for the next and final week.

Things Gary heard: "I've been no repping other teams even when they are perfect reps" - Christian L in the Purple team chat. "Yeah I think I'm going to go hard on the deadlifts and recover on the burpees" - Ervin switching into Tia Toomey mode.

'What round am I on?" - Kate

"The 3s Kate" - Liz, with Kate approximately 30 seconds into the workout and having done 6 reps so far.

"No rep" - Cam keeping strict on Fergus with 1 rep and limited time remaining! Great work under pressure.

"Blue is killing it considering we've been hit so hard with COVID" - an only internal looking Shaun B talking about the only team that has been able to submit all their scores.

"I would have finished this if it wasn't for catching COVID" - Kimmy.

"1 rep less than the last attempt and Dad no repped me" - Conor B. Integrity going strong at CFC!

"I don't understand how people forgot to register for a heat during the week" - Nate.

"Yeah can you please add me heats for Monday, I forgot to put my name down" - Nate.

"The Deadlifts are only 70kg, this won't be too bad" - a soon to be incorrect Elyse.

Notable performances: _ Marshall before Friday Night lights decides his optimal warmup will be to walk straight up to a 100kg bar and deadlift it completely cold, right in front of his physio and captain Liz and many of the coaches. Also, considering his category's weight was 83kg this seemed hasty. You can lead a horse to water....

_ Brenda and others hitting over their old 1RM Deadlift for many reps!

_ After berating Liz about her shoelace ability, Jason has had his shoelace come undone for both workouts so far.

_ Pete for poisoning Adam with tainted meat to get the upper hand for this week's workout. Sadly they are both on team Green.

_ Cam for costing team Green the weekly win by being in charge of Sienna's score logging and 'forgetting' to do it. Team Blue playing dirty. Sienna only realising during the Thursday morning class.

_ Christian L for getting a fake tan the night before Monday's WOD and then being upset and there were no photos being taken.

22.2 by the numbers: 0 - Tears (at least that the editor saw) this week

1 - Workouts completed but not logged

2 - Storm out of the Gym immediately post-workout. (DM for names).

9 - The number of Sunday night last-minute heat regos we had.

11 - Emily's worldwide placing!! 15 - Worldwide placing for Conor!! Not bad for a 16yo in the 17yo category!

Week 2 Standings:

Purple slays the Dragon!! What many thought impossible now proves possible. The Purple headed monster slays the big Dragon. Green shows that like the most famous dragon of all time - Smaug, they do have a soft spot and weakness that can be exposed.

4th: Red 1625 reps

3rd: Green 1700 reps

2nd: Blue 1730 reps

1st: Purple 1804 reps

Overall Standings:

The standings at the end of week 2 prove for exciting reading: 4th: Red, 7 points

3rd: Purple 5 points

=1st: Blue & Green 4 points Most likely due to Kat not being a captain this year - not in the history of CrossFit Claremonts Open faction competition have we had a race this close before! With there most likely being two workouts this week, every team is well and truly in it!

So put on a hazmat suit until Friday night, give it your best, remember to log your score and we will see you on the other side!
