August 18' Member of the Month - 1/2: Chris Loftus

When, how and why did you get started with us? I started at Southern Crossfit in 2013 after being dragged along by colleague and friend Calen (some of you may remember him as he coached at Nedlands). I was 110kg, chubby face, big belly, fat ass (still got a fat ass but it's perky and tight now, shaped well in a pair of skinny jeans). I was newly single and female attention was non existent so I decided to lose some weight to better my chances in love. I was there for 3 years and then fellow gym goer Mitch Conte made the move to Crossfit Claremont (formerly known as Southern Crossfit Nedlands). He promised me there was far better 'talent' to which I replied something about being disgusted that he would objectify women like that. Shortly after that I joined and haven't looked back.

What would be your dream workout? I'm crap at anything longer than the 5 minute time domain so something short and sweet at high intensity. All time dream workout is a 100m sprint for time.

What workout would you want to avoid? Anything with handstand push-ups. The worst I’ve ever felt after a workout is doing 6 x 500m rowing sprints so I’m going to go with that. I remember doing the morning class and lying on the backseat of my car for 30 mins because I was too dizzy to drive afterwards. Ended up taking the day off work.

Favourite Crossfit Athlete? Definitely has to be Sara Sigmundsdottir. She acts an idiot and a kid at heart.

Whats the best thing you own that cost under $100? My Aesop Geranium Leaf Body Scrub. Leaves me feeling fresh and clean after every shower and has a gorgeous subtle fragrance, exfoliants are key!

Biggest fashion mistake you’ve ever made? Back in my adolescent emo days, I would wear tight black jeans, white belt, tight v neck shirt whilst sporting a quasi fringe/spikey hair combination. Regrettable.

What's Your fav 90s jam? Not really a 'jam' but favourite song from the 90's is Jeff Buckley - Lover You Should've Come Over If we are talking pure jam then Corona - Rhythm of the Night is a pure banger

Last thing you watched on TV? Signed up to Stan for the sole purpose of watching The O.C. Goodness gracious is there a better show out there? Really encapsulates teenage life and issues (minus the obscene wealth). The soundtrack is also second to none...CALIFORNIAAAAAA

Funniest thing that happened to you recently? My mind was elsewhere and the elevator opened up and I went to step in without looking and almost physically bumped two ladies looking to exit. I awkwardly blurted out 'sorry, premature' and they both looked at me oddly as if I was making a sexual joke (I was not).

If you could have one other CrossFit Claremont members body part, what would it be? Yeah baybee, this is the question we've all been waiting for. I am going to ignore the strict instruction of this question and basically construct my ultimate male body. For obvious reasons I won't be constructing the ultimate female... Hair - Nass Face - Mine obviously Shoulders - Wacey Back/Traps - Sean Sweeney (please see a doctor though because I swear your back keeps growing at an exponential rate #malignanttumours) Arms - Scott Pecs/Midline - Isaac Ass/Hammies/Quads - Mitch Bell Calves - Jason Height - Cooper
