Friday 01.06.18 - Member of the Month 1/2: Ciara Buckley


Ciara has been around for as long as anyone and is always a delight to have in a class. She is also getting married to the man of her dreams (Big Rob) tomorrow I think it is! We wish them good luck for the big day and I hope the potatoes are in season back in Ireland! When, how and why did you get started with us? I started CrossFit about 5 years ago when I moved to Perth. Originally started in Willeton gym but followed Jason to Nedlands as he was always our favourite coach 😊. Robbie had done Crossfit in Ireland and used to talk about it all the time (pretty standard for Crossfit) so I thought I would see what all the fuss was about. I'm someone who gets bored really easily so I loved the idea of the workouts being different every day.

What would be your dream workout? Something with lots of sit-ups, they are my fav. Also love rowing, pull-ups and double unders (on a good day).

What workout would you want to avoid? Anything with snatches, overhead squats, front squats...pretty much any Oly movement ha ha!

Favourite Crossfit Athlete? Big Rob of course.

Whats the best thing you own that cost under $100? My microwavable heat pack.

Biggest fashion mistake you’ve ever made? I went through a phase when I was 16 and thought I was a bit of an emo. Think pink hair, black baggy jeans, studded belts.....cringe!!

Favourite quote? Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Whats Your fav 90s jam? So many good ones it's hard to chose....maybe Rhythm is a dancer.

Last thing you watched on TV? I wish I could say some really cool documentary or something but it was the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills.

Funniest thing that happened to you recently? I work in Oil and Gas and we often use 'Tug' Boats and Barges for offshore operations. A very Senior Member of staff came into our little work area and I asked him in front of about 10 people if he had ‘sorted out his ‘Tug’ issue yet’ and followed it with ‘it’s a big one’. Needless to say the boys in the office didn’t let me live that one down for a few weeks.

Most used emoji? Lately, either the bride emoji or crying face emoji...think they go hand in hand.

If you could have one other CrossFit Claremont members body part, what would it be? Siobhane's abs!

 

On the Public Holiday for Monday the 4th, we will have one class at 9am. Workout of the Day: 3 Rounds: Team 1: 400m Prowler Push and Pull (20x10m) 80kg Team 2: Max Bike Calories *Each team will do as many calories on the bike as possible until the other team completes the 400m Prowler Push. Team with the most calories overall wins. If Teams of 2-4 Each: 1 Bike + Prowler If Teams of 5-7 Each: 2-3 Bikes + 2 Prowlers If Teams 8-10 Each: 4 Bikes + 2 Prowlers Post results to Beyond the Whiteboard. Use code CFC123 to join.
